Texans Fall To 0-3 With 30-27 OT Loss To Jaguars In Jacksonville
Josh Scobee drilled the ball down the middle, gave his holder a high-five and then jumped into the arms of left tackle Khalif Barnes, after lifting the Jaguars to a 30-27 overtime victory over the Texans in Jacksonville.

It would have been more appropriate for Barnes to climb on Scobee’s back. After all, the Jags' kicker has carried Jacksonville (2-2) to consecutive wins -- with plenty of help from quarterback David Garrard.
Scobee, who booted a 51-yard field goal with 4 seconds remaining to defeat Indianapolis last week, connected on a 37-yarder in overtime to give the Jaguars a 30-27 victory against the winless Texans (0-3) .
“Every kicker lives for this moment,” said Scobee, who made two others from 46 and 40 yards. “Either you make a living doing it or you don’t. This year, I’ve gotten two opportunities and made both of them. I’ve been very fortunate.”
Garrard put Jacksonville in position for the game-winner against the Colts, and did the same against the Texans. He completed a 24-yard pass to Matt Jones on third down to get to the Houston 41, then found Greg Jones in the flat for 22 more yards.
Scobee lined up two plays later and put it through the uprights.
The Texans, getting their best game of the season from quarterback Matt Schaub , looked like they might get their first win after scoring on their final five possessions. Schaub passed for 307 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to wide receiver Kevin Walter . The last one was an 8-yard strike that put the Texans ahead 24-20 with 7:06 remaining in the 4th quarter.
Texans kicker Kris Brown nailed a 47-yard field goal with one second remaining in regulation to force overtime, but the Texans would lose the coin toss and never touch the ball during the extra period. Brown also connected from 27 yards out late in the first quarter.
The Texans (0-3) will finally play their home opener on Sunday, October 5th, when they host the AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts (1-2). Kickoff is set for noon. The Colts will be coming off their open date on the schedule, following their 23-21 home loss to Jacksonville in Week 3.
